MachOne — Support

Getting started

  1. Open MachOne after installing.
  2. On iPhone or iPad: tap "Open Safari Settings" in the app, or go to Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions.
On Mac: click "Safari extensions" in the app, or open Safari → Settings → Extensions.
  3. Enable all three MachOne extensions and allow them on all websites:
  4. MachOne downloads the latest filter lists in the background and refreshes them about every 12 hours. You can force an update at any time with "Update filter lists now" in the app.

The Protection Benchmark

Tap "Run benchmark" in the app and MachOne loads its real rules into a private web view on your device, fires requests at a fixed list of known tracker hosts — with protection off, then on — and shows you exactly what was blocked, category by category. It also verifies that the element-hiding rules really remove on-page annoyances. The test runs only when you start it, attaches no personal information, and the results stay on your device.

Common issues

Blocking seems off after I changed something in Safari settings?
Tap "Reapply filters in Safari" in the MachOne app to force Safari to reload MachOne's rule files.

"Update failed" shown in red?
This usually means one of the MachOne extensions is disabled in Safari's extension settings. Enable all three and tap "Update filter lists now" again.

A site doesn't load properly with MachOne on?
Open the MachOne popup in Safari's toolbar and use "Pause MachOne on this site" — blocking stops for that site only, everywhere else stays protected. Then email me the site address so I can fix the underlying rule.

The popup says it can't read this page?
Safari restricts extensions on its own special pages (Start Page, app store pages, PDFs). Open any normal website and the popup will show live numbers.

Purchases and refunds

MachOne is sold through the App Store, and one purchase covers iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Billing and refunds are handled by Apple: visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account, and choose the purchase. If a problem with the app led you there, I'd appreciate an email too — most issues are fixable.

Privacy

MachOne doesn't collect any user data — see the full Privacy Policy. Terms are in the Terms of Use.

Acknowledgments

MachOne ships with rule data from the open-source filter-list community. We are deeply grateful for their work.

The ad-blocking and fingerprinting-defense techniques in MachOne's content scripts are derived from publicly-documented scriptlet approaches used by uBlock Origin (GPLv3). MachOne's implementations were written from scratch following the same documented patterns.
